Love Poem

"A Walk To Remember"

Love is patient, love is kind.
Love is not jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud.
Love is not rude, is not selfish,
and does not become angry easily.
Love does not remember wrongs done against it.
Love is not happy with evil, but is happy with truth.
Love bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails..

"True Love"

True Love
True love is a sacred flame
That burns eternally,
And none can dim its special glow
Or change its destiny.
True love speaks in tender tones
And hears with gentle ear,
True love gives with open heart
And true love conquers fear.
True love makes no harsh demands
It neither rules nor binds,
And true love holds with gentle hands
The hearts that it entwines.

"A White Rose"

The red rose whispers of passion,
And the white rose breathes of love;
O the red rose is a falcon,
And the white rose is a dove.
But I send you a cream-white rosebud
With a flush on its petal tips;
For the love that is purest and sweetest
Has a kiss of desire on the lips.

"The Notebook"

*I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: I've loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough. --Noah

*It was an improbable romance. He was a country boy. She was from the city. She had the world at her feet, while he didn't have two dimes to rub together. --Duke

*Summer romances begin for all kinds of reasons, but when all is said and done, they have one thing in common. They're shooting stars, a spectacular moment of light in the heavens, fleeting glimpse of eternity, and in a flash they're gone. --Noah

Peace Poem

"Longlive Peace"
By: Shik Mds

Peace is all we want
Peace is all we need
Peace is all we ask
Peace is all we desire

There’s something we should do
That’s not been done
Something we can win
That’s not been won
Something we can shout out
To end all the brutal war games
We Want peace

Case for war was fake,
Don’t let it fade
More lives can be saved
Got to be brave
Something we can shout out,
We want peace, and we want it right now
Talking is Free

All we hunger is Peace
All we miss is Peace
All we lack is Peace
Peace is all we want

Peace is all we ask
It’s not a big task
Believe me
It’s easy.

Peace is all we want
Peace is all we need
Peace is all we want
Peace is all we need

All we wish is peace..please

Lyrics

"Peace And Love"
By: Fountains of Wayne

Peace and love
Peace and love
That's all I'm thinking of baby
Peace and love

Riding around in a Volkswagen van
Thinking 'bout the people upside-down in Japan
Staring at the stars in a distant galaxy
Wondering if there's someone out there staring back at me singing

Peace and love
Peace and love
That's all I'm thinking of baby
Peace and love

Lying on the floor just playing my guitar
Trying to find the chords for "Just The Way You Are"
Plane crash flashing on my TV
Well it could have been you, baby
It could have been me

We'll never live forever
But baby things could be worse
Cause when we get together we are one with the Universe

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont
Open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant
Got crazy karma, never harmed a single soul
So if you want to join me then together we'll grow old singing

Peace and love
Peace and love
That's all I'm thinking of baby
Peace and love

"Peace of Mind"
By: Boston

Now if you're feelin' kinda low 'bout the dues you've been paying
Future's coming much too slow
And you wanna run but somehow you just keep on stayin'
Can't decide on which way to go
Yeah, yeah, yeah

I understand about indecision
But I don't care if I get behind
People livin' in competition
All I want is to have my peace of mind

Now you're climbin' to the top of the company ladder
Hope it doesn't take too long
Can't cha see there'll come a day when it won't matter
Come a day when you'll be gone

I understand about indecision
But I don't care if I get behind
People livin' in competition
All I want is to have my peace of mind

Take a look ahead, take a look ahead, yeah, yeah, yeah

Now everybody's got advice they just keep on givin'
Doesn't mean too much to me
Lot's of people out to make-believe they're livin'
Can't decide who they should be

I understand about indecision
But I don't care if I get behind
People livin' in competition
All I want is to have my peace of mind

Take a look ahead, take a look ahead. Look ahead.

These romantic movies show and explain both peace and love. An example of one of the movies is "The Notebook". In this movie a boy and a girl fall in love and they are taken through obstacles to be with eachother in the end. The young boy is just trying to find peace with her family but they don't think he is good enough. I thought this was a really good example because it shows both peace and love, and what people will go through to experience it.

Once obama got selected for president people weren't really sure what to think of him, but he has made his point very clear across the U.S. To Obama, the vision of a world free from nuclear arms, hatred, and other complicated events has helped spread peace across the nation. Obama has really made a difference and I believe that Peace is the best thing for everyone.

This website shows when the Vietnam Peace marchers confronted the Pentagon in 1967. During this massive American Peace Movement, SANE was the peace organization with the largest membership when the war began, but was unable to fight for peace the way they believed they should. Another reason they were unable to organize effectively was because of the anticommunists around and the non-believers of peace.

Biography

Hugo Van Der Goes:

South Netherlandish painter who represents a change in the realism and spirituality expressed in Flemish art, while synthesizing the influence of the artists of the previous generation.
It is thought that Hugo was born in Ghent, although he may have trained elsewhere. Similarities suggest that he may have been a pupil of Dieric Bouts in Louvain. He was enrolled as a master in the Ghent guild of painters in 1467 , under the sponsorship of Joos van Wassenhove , and in 1468 he went to Bruges to work on decorations for the wedding of Charles the Bold and Margaret of York. In subsequent years he had similar civic and ducal commissions in Ghent. In 1474 – 5 he was appointed dean of the painters' guild, and in 1480 he was asked to evaluate the Justice panels in Louvain, left unfinished on the death of Bouts.
Little evidence survives on which to base a chronology of Hugo's works, although a small diptych (Vienna, Kunsthist. Mus.) may be an early work. It depicts, unusually, the Fall of Man and the Deposition, the latter reminiscent of Rogier van der Weyden in its physical expressions of grief.
The only surviving authenticated painting is the Portinari altarpiece ( c. 1473 – 8 ; Florence, Uffizi), a massive triptych commissioned by the Florentine merchant Tommaso Portinari for S. Maria Nuova , Florence. The central panel shows the Adoration of the Shepherds, a scene witnessed by the patron's family and saints on the wings. The entire composition is unified by an extensive, wintry landscape containing distant narrative details. In contrast, the main figures are substantial and remarkably lifelike, the rustic shepherds as individualized as any portraits. The focus of this realistic scene is an intensely spiritual act of adoration of the naked Christ child, who lies upon the ground in a pool of light, surrounded by praying figures and a still life which symbolically alludes to his sacrifice.
Hugo's unique fusion of realism and visionary drama may derive from his own religious and mental state. By 1478 he had become a lay brother at the monastery of the Roode Kloster , near Brussels, and subsequently suffered from mental illness and delusions of damnation. The Death of the Virgin (Bruges, Groeningemus.), with its bleak setting and cold colours, is stark and melancholy. It might reflect the artist's own anguish towards the end of his life, sharing the grief of the apostles, who gaze out at us from the painting.

“May all beings be filled with peace and love; may no harm befall any being.”

Natural blessing sun
Present all over the earthas well as the remote, removed
And though not quite desolate but calmly isolate;
Kind embracing sun
(You as loving as sister rain)
That never fails to come again
Though changes may cause some days of absence;
Dear, dear being of light and rays
That kisses cheeks in the morning
And warm uncovered heads and chests come again
Shine too on our land and over our roofs
Back each morning and bring us
Also joyous day and all your growth blessings
For our land and our children, and we too,
Life and beings all, with all our needs and desires,
And for the ants and the field-mice and the creatures in the burrows too
For we are all in need of your love always..

Critique two

This painting is called "Hand Heart" by Jaison Cianelli. The medium or media of this painting is pencil then Cianelli digitally cropped, scanned, manipulated, and finished it. The subject matter of this image would be people giving and showing love between others. There are two hands that come together as a heart and that also connects to peace and love within people.
There are many different visuals used in this painting. Some that catch your eye right away would be the color and the texture of the picture. Right when I looked at this picture I noticed that the colors were kind of darker and the hands almost have a dirty look to them. I thought this was very interesting and it caught my eye. The tone and harmony of the picture is also very dull but has very nice shadings and colors in the center of the picture. The balance is symmetrical because each hand is going in the same way and everything is the same size. The value in this picture is light and dark because the center of the hands is very dark but the hands are a lot lighter. The first thing I noticed was the realism and subject matter in this painting. Once you look you see the heart that the hands are forming it it's obvious that it is showing love between people. Some people may have trouble interpreting the painting but the focal point of what I can see is the heart in the persons hands. The content of this picture made me realize what people look for in others. This image shows love that someone has for someone or something else, and it also shows that they believe in love. I really liked the proportion because I like how everything is centered and it is put together very well. The emphasis in this picture is also where the darkness is in the heart which makes it more obvious and noticeable.
The focal point in this painting is in the center of the hands which is the heart. I believe it draws peoples attention the most because it is darker. The second thing I noticed after the heart was that there were hands forming the heart. I liked the way this looked and I thought it made it a lot more interesting. The obvious narrative of this painting would be love. I think love is the most obvious because there is hands forming a heart, and whenever there is a heart involved in something it represents love. I liked how the painting was almost like a sepia color. Not many paintings are that color and I feel like it made the painting more attractive. The shading and texture of this painting was also done very well. Overall I think this painting by Jaison Cianelli was very strong and effective.

Critique one

For my painting I chose "Peace & Love" by Paul Stanley. I thought that this painting related to my concept because I am doing Peace and Love. The medium or media would be paint. Looking at this piece I noticed that he used different paints and also used different tools to make it more eye catching. The subject matter of this image is peace signs and hearts which makes the title pretty self explanatory. When I was choosing a picture I wanted to look for a painting that you could glance at and already know what the meaning was, and I feel that this painting by Stanley was the perfect fit.

In "Peace & Love" there are many different visuals to notice and look for. Some I found were tone, shape, harmony, texture, color, and hue. I chose these because to me they seem to be the basics that make the painting beautiful and interesting. Others that I studied and noticed in the picture were field, balance, emphasis, juxtaposition, render, and narrative. These visuals show more of what the image is made of and based on, but the first six visuals are more of what the image shows and how it is presented. For example, the color of the painting is very bright and eye catching and the balance is symmetrical and each box is the same size. Both terms mean different things but they all fit together to create the painting.

The narrative in this piece is Peace and Love. This is shown by the peace signs in one lined section and the hearts in the other. The meaning to me shows how people can think about peace within others and loving one another more. This painting shows different kinds of peace and love and how they can be presented by color and overall image. I believe the focal point of this painting is the 1st series has a smaller inner heart and peace sign then as each of them go down they get bigger. This shows how peace and love can grow overtime. In conclusion I think the colors in this painting catch your eye along with the texture around it, and I think people focus on the image more because of the color and texture. Also, since they are paying more attention because they are attracted to it they look more into it to find a story and meaning like I have.
